Hole patching at the re-reeler

You can achieve reliable hole patching with 3M™ Repulpable Single Coated Printable Splicing Tapes. Just cut the printable splicing tape into a rounded- or diamond-shaped patch larger than the hole, then press the patch into place over the hole.

The thin, strong backing provides reliable hole patching that holds through coaters and supercalenders—increasing yield through mill or printing operations. The backing is also printable and accepts coatings to help assure high quality printing without flaking or print distortion. The high shear strength adhesive holds firmly to many grades of paper to help reduce the number of splices.
- Repulpability to prevent broke contamination from non-repulpable splice material (Repulpability determined according to TAPPI UM-213, Procedure A)
- All of these tapes—except Splicing Tape 901—are FDA compliant 21 CFR 176.170 and/or 21 CFR 176.180 so the tape can be used on most food grade papers

White, ultra-thin, printable/coatable cover tape ideal for coated and uncoated grades of paper. Strong, printable backing for butt splicing. Good for a wide variety of papers and temperatures.
3M™ Repulpable Single Coated Printable Splicing Tape 9103

Blue kraft paper with blue repulpable adhesive on an easy-release liner. Primarily used for butt splicing coated paper and board at the re-reeler and winders.
3M™ Repulpable Single Coated Printable Splicing Tape 901

Designed primarily for uncoated papers. Used for butt splicing and taping down leading or trailing edges. A semi-bleached kraft paper coated with a light green repulpable adhesive.
