This July, the Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE) has recognized six of its members as Fellows for 2015, including 3M’s Senior Fire Protection Specialist, Paul Rivers. As a 2015 SFPE Fellow, Rivers represents a distinguished group of members who have achieved a standard of excellence and have made significant contributions to fire protection engineering and the society globally.
After nearly 40 years as a member of SFPE International, Paul Rivers, P.E., Senior Fire Protection Engineer at 3M, has been elected an SFPE Fellow for 2015 for his significant achievements and contributions in the fire protection industry. He has been actively involved in SFPE on both international and local levels, serving on the society’s Board of Directors and currently acting as the Minnesota Chapter President.
Rivers has extensive expertise as a 3M development engineer and co-inventor of 3M™ Novec™ 1230 Fire Protection Fluid. His passion for the industry fueled him to advocate for and develop the Master’s in Fire Protection Engineering program at the St. Paul-based University of St. Thomas (UST). The innovative program structure combines on-campus work at UST and distance learning through the nationally-recognized Department of Fire Protection Engineering at the University of Maryland (UMD), bringing much needed fire protection engineering education to the US Midwest region.
We at 3M are proud to have such a dedicated thought-leader on the team – driving the fire suppression industry to a more sustainable future. Please join us in congratulating Paul Rivers for this outstanding achievement.
