When you eliminate the need for screws and rivets, your design can truly shine. 3M™ VHB™ Tapes enable a smooth surface with a virtually invisible bond, for a sleek, eye-catching sign that will stand up to the elements.

Cut their labour time by 80% using tape. A worker spray paints large sign letters. Text, See it to Believe it. Nick Hansen. Owner, Hansen Signs. Moncton, New Brunswick. (SPEECH) Hansen Signs is a family-owned company, and we've been in business for 37 years. We design, manufacture, install, and maintain all different types of signage. In our client's eyes, it's more desirable to have as many smooth surfaces and clean-painted finish as possible. Sometimes, rivets can create a rippling effect in material in different type of weather conditions. In order to create a more consistent aesthetic, we recognize 3M VHB Tape as a significant solution. (DESCRIPTION) Workers apply VHB tape to a large metal frame. (SPEECH) We use 3M VHB Tape to bond all different types of substrates in bonding possibly aluminum to composite, composite to plastics. (DESCRIPTION) Many sign letters lay on grid racks in rows. (SPEECH) We bond PVC letters to aluminum and painted surfaces as well for about 30% of the product that we use. (DESCRIPTION) Workers move around a metal sign frame and add white panels to it around the edges. A worker uses a roller on tape installed to a frame. (SPEECH) Now, durability is important to us because we're responsible for the end result of our client's image. We're in Atlantic Canada, so the environments that our signage is experiencing once it goes outdoors is snow, sleet, rain, extreme temperature changes. (DESCRIPTION) Two workers lay a white panel down onto tape secured to a metal sign frame. (SPEECH) Due to the fact that we're using electrical components inside of our signs and we are maintaining a high grade of finished result, we want to make sure that our signs are sealed. And it's important to us that the end result, there's no water or moisture getting into our signs. So we use the 3M VHB Tape along the seams to accomplish that. (DESCRIPTION) A designer works on a 3D model of a sign frame on his computer monitor. (SPEECH) On a typical 4 by 8 panel, where we would be riveting-- drilling and riveting all of the sections of the panel, we'd probably have about 40 rivets. In that case, we're somewhere near an hour to an hour and 15 minutes. By comparison, bonding the 3M VHB Tape to the frame and mounting the panel, two men can do that in about 15 minutes. I would recommend 3M VHB Tape to any sign company that is manufacturing and bonding panels to frames with any other product. It's going to save them time and save them money.
