3M™ Polycarbonate Carrier Tape 3000R Series opens up new possibilities in semiconductor Back End of Line (BEOL). Transport even ultra small, thin components – more safely, more reliably and with minimal shifting and chip loss.
3M™ Polycarbonate Carrier Tape 3000R Series is used for advanced thin package semiconductor transport applications including heterogenous and integrated component packaging and wafer level chip scale packaging (WLCSP). This carrier tape allows for extremely small open radius control and precise pocket tolerances, helping decrease component rotation tilting and migration, as well as damage to semiconductor chips. It is ideal as components become smaller, thinner and more valuable.
With pocket open radius control of < .1 mm/0.12 mm and pocket tolerance down to Ä… 0.02, 3M™ Polycarbonate Carrier Tape 3000R Series helps reduce component tilting, migration, cracking and other incidents associated with transporting thin, ultra thin and ultra small components. These tapes help reduce width and flatness of top pocket edges and enable extremely narrow pocket variations, and a raised-platform design minimizes the gap between carrier and cover tapes. 3M™ Polycarbonate Carrier Tape 3000R Series is available in 8 mm and 12 mm widths for a range of form factors, and can be specified to meet cleanroom requirements.
Today’s standard carrier tapes can allow for an open radius of about .13 mm. By helping reduce the width and flatness of top pocket edges, 3M™ Polycarbonate Carrier Tape 3000R Series enables a typical open radius of < .1 mm/0.12 mm depending on tape width, and as low as .06 -.07 mm. Our testing process helps validate the measured and controlled open radius in each carrier tape.
The raised platform design of 3M™ Polycarbonate Carrier Tape 3000R Series helps reduce the gap between the cover tape and the carrier tape, and create tension around the top pocket edges. Pocket tolerances of ± 0.03 mm and as low as ± 0.02 mm help minimize pocket variation, securely holds thin or ultra small components and helps prevent tilting or slippage.
