The 3M™ Shielded/Jacketed, Flat Cable, 3517 Series is a jacketed flat ribbon cable that delivers optimal performance for applications requiring improved signal integrity. With size 28 AWG stranded wire on .050 in. centers, it allows for easy mass termination to a broad range of IDC connectors for quick and convenient installation. This cable features a 360° expanded copper shielding which provides an average shielding effectiveness of 20 dB, helping ensure signal integrity and protection against EMI. The expanded copper material also contributes to ease of mass termination especially when compared to solid material. Two optional 28 AWG drain wires carry unwanted electrical noise to ground away from the circuit. Manufactured in North America, the shielded flat ribbon cable is zippable which allows for easy branching or discrete terminations. 3M™ Shielded/Jacketed, Flat Cable, 3517 Series is made from PVC insulation and jacket material for durability and meets the external wiring requirements of the National Electrical Code, Article 725 (CL2) and is UL listed for the USA and Canadian markets.
A: Outer PVC jacket provides additional layer of protection
B: PVC cable primary insulation adds initial layer of protection and helps extend cable life
C: Expanded copper shield is bonded with adhesive to the primary insulation for flexibility, durability and protection from EMI
D: Tinned copper 7-strand conductors provide excellent signal throughput
3M™ Shielded Cable 3517 Series allows for Insulation Displacement Connection (IDC) termination which features from 9 contacts up to as many as 64 contacts. Technicians can make stable metal-to-metal contact through cover and primary insulation for all contacts simultaneously.
