It also depends on your level of defects and what you’re trying to accomplish. If you have severe defects/corrections needed, then we would recommend our full standard operating procedure. If you are trying to remove very minor scratches, swirl marks, or simply trying to add some shine to your paint, then using just our Random Orbital Polishing tool with our liquids should help you get the job done.

If you desire to start with a rotary tool for improved cut, we recommend you use our 3M™ Perfect-It™ EXAC Rubbing Compound which provides excellent cut and was designed for rotary buffing. Finish with the 3M™ Perfect-It™ Random Orbital Polisher and our 3M™ Perfect-It™ Random Orbital Polish for quick and easy swirl elimination.

  • We would not recommend using 3M™ Perfect-It™ Random Orbital Compound and Polish with a rotary buffer as these liquids were designed specifically to be used with our 3M™ Perfect-It™ Random Orbital Polisher. For rotary buffing, we recommend using our traditional 3M™ Perfect-It™ Paint Finishing System.

  • The 15mm Random Orbital Polisher is preferred for smaller areas and around body lines while the 21mm Random Orbital Polisher is preferred for larger areas or for whole vehicle detailing.
