3M completed the sale of its global Static Control business to Desco Industries, Inc. on January 2, 2015. The sale included 3M’s barrier and static shielding packaging, workstation products, instrumentation, and electronic vacuums. The operations will continue in the Sanford, North Carolina facility under the new brand, SCS.
During the transition period following closing, 3M has remained your interface for ordering, shipping, and invoicing of Static Control products as a limited distributor for Desco Industries, Inc. Our goal has been to help facilitate a smooth transition of the business from 3M to the new brand SCS, minimizing any inconvenience to customers.
As this transition period winds down, we want to make you aware of three important dates that impact how customers will place and receive orders. As noted below, SCS will take over the sale, including order processing, handling, and shipping, of Static Control products in February.
February 13, 2015 – Last date to place orders with 3M
February 13, 2015 the last date customers can place orders directly with 3M. After February 13, all orders must be submitted directly to SCS.
February 16, 2015 – Begin using Desco SCS ordering process
Please see the attached letter from SCS Brand Manager Cheryl Uresti for more information on the SCS ordering process.
February 25, 2015 – Last date 3M will ship orders
February 25, 2015 is the last date 3M will ship existing orders from the factory. Any orders shipped from the factory after February 25 will be shipped directly from SCS. If you have placed an order with 3M that will not ship from the factory by February 25, SCS will contact you to modify your order and transfer it from 3M to SCS.
Important Note Regarding Invoice Payment
Please note that you should pay all invoices to the remit address on that specific invoice. Any invoices with a 3M remit address are payable directly to 3M.
