When a spray adhesive product is versatile enough to bond foils, plastics, glass, papers, leather, metals, rubber, vinyl and wood, it's bound to create a following.
And when a company reformulates this product to reduce the amount of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that are emitted into the air during use, well, that's even better.
And that is exactly what has happened with 3M™ Super 77™ Multipurpose Adhesive and 3M™ Hi-Strength 90 Contact Adhesive. After reformulation, these two well-known 3M spray adhesives now provide the adhesion customers have come to expect - with reduced environmental impact. Reduced enough, in fact, that both products have been given GREENGUARD Certification by UL Environment, a business unit of UL (Underwriters Laboratories).
3M™ Super 77™ is a multipurpose spray adhesive that can be used for a variety of home, office and craft projects to bond lightweight materials. It's quick drying, and transparent. Its fast, permanent bond provides quick results to keep projects moving forward. The spray formula is easy to dispense and apply directly onto surfaces and materials where needed. Moreover, the Low VOC formulation reduces VOC emissions by as much as 30 percent.
3M™ Hi-Strength 90 Contact Adhesive bonds laminates, kick plates, polyethylene, polypropylene, and plastic lettering - with precise spray control for even coverage in both compact and wide-open spaces. It provides industrial strength adhesion ideal for sealing plastic that has been allowed to cure for 24 hours. Its Low VOC formulation reduces VOC emissions by as much as 40 percent.
All California retailers can now carry both products, since both meet California Air Resources Board (CARB) VOC requirements.
In short, this development will have a great impact on the adhesives people stick with because it helps reduce the impact on the air people live with.
