In the U.S., approximately 36,000 blood donations are needed each day. To raise awareness about the importance of this simple act of generosity, Nexcare™ Brand bandages, in partnership with the American Red Cross and America’s Blood Centers, proudly sponsored the ninth annual Nexcare™ Give Program.
Timed to align with the World Health Organization’s World Blood Donor Day, this Nexcare™ Give program sought to encourage blood donation and increase knowledge of its importance in positively impacting, and in many cases, saving lives. The 2017 campaign included the theme “Roll up a sleeve and give where you live” and a collection of Nexcare™ Bandages that carried artistic representations of landmarks from iconic cities around the globe. The limited-edition bandages were available free to donors at participating donor sites and blood drives around the country. They were also sold as a bonus in select Nexcare™ Waterproof Bandage packs at retailers nationwide.
In addition, to spread the word about blood donation, 3M enlisted the help of supermodel Niki Taylor, who, in media interviews, on social media and other online venues, shared her inspiring personal story as a blood recipient.
In all, more than 4,800 blood centers participated in the program, 1.7 million bandages were distributed, and 1,200+ media placements resulted in 351 million media impressions.
