Improving every life is a core concept within 3M. And it’s a concept the 3M Consumer Business Group lives every day – in the products we develop, the environment we protect, the employees we nurture and the organizations we support. One of those organizations is City of Hope, a leading research and treatment center for cancer, diabetes and other life-threatening diseases, including HIV/AIDS.

For the past 36 years, 3M, collaborating with its customers and colleagues in the National Business Products Industry, has helped raise over $185 million for City of Hope initiatives. City of Hope’s research and discoveries impact millions around the world. This money has helped City of Hope:

      • Conduct research that lead to the development of synthetic human insulin, Humulin, which is utilized by half the world’s diabetics
      • Create technology that led to the development of many of the world’s most utilized breakthrough cancer drugs such as Herceptin, Erbitux, Avastin and Rituxan
      • Lead the way in immunotherapy, which harnesses and reprograms the patient’s own immune system to identify and kill cancer within the body, leaving healthy cells unharmed
      • Announce and commit resources to find a cure for Type1 Diabetes by 2022
      • Construct groundbreaking facilities, including City of Hope Helford Clinical Research Hospital and the National Business Products Industry Cellular & Tumor Immunotherapies Center

In 2019, 3M’s commitment to City of Hope will add a new dimension when Brad Graves, vice president and general manager of the 3M Stationery and Office Supply Division, will be recognized as City of Hope’s 2019 Spirit of Life® honoree. Brad will join a distinguished group of committed and passionate supporters within the National Business Products Industry who are true champions of the unparalleled work of this organization. Brad explains, “Using science to improve lives is a common goal for both 3M and City of Hope. I am very excited to be leading this year’s fund-raising campaign themed, Science Creating Hope.”

3M is as proud of these accomplishments as we are of the consumer business products that make our support of them possible.
