Greetings from 3M Knoxville
In Knoxville, we are home to some of 3M's most interesting and complex technologies. We use technologies such as precision coating, radiation curing, specialty films, adhesives, and others across multiple processes, including Adhesives (Ad).
At 3M Knoxville, we make a wide variety of tapes, adhesives, and fastening systems. A short list of the products made in Knoxville includes:
- VHB Tapes
- Acrylic Foam Tapes
- Transfer Tapes
- Blackout Films
- Window Films for commercial, home and auto uses
- Diaper Fastening Systems
- Laminating Adhesives
We extrude, coat, and convert these products using a wide variety of technologies across the plant. Ultimately, these products go into industrial, commercial, and consumer applications around the world for a broad range of customers.
Knoxville, a town of approximately 8,500, lies 35 miles southeast of Des Moines in Marion County. The Knoxville Raceway, home of the Sprint Car National Championships, draws hundreds of thousands of spectators annually to central Iowa. These enthusiastic race fans support business throughout Marion County and Iowa to create a significant economic impact on the region.
Lake Red Rock, the largest lake in Iowa, is a recreation paradise. Whether it is boating, fishing, hunting, swimming, camping, hiking, or biking, you will find it all at this Marion County treasure.
3M Knoxville understands the importance of giving back to our community. The plant directly contributes to a number of organizations that provide assistance in the community.
Our employees, on their own, spend numerous hours each year volunteering their time and efforts for various organizations. These include Little League, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Alumni associations, Stepping Stones Early Learning Center, Save Our Stadium, School Board members, volunteer fire and auxiliary police, and many school organizations.
Others are Meals on Wheels for our elderly, United Way, local hospital volunteers, Rotary, Kiwanis, Garden Club, Chamber of Commerce, City Council, Beta Sigma Phi, 4H, Hospice, community chorus, community theater, and the Food Pantry.
