Highlights
  • Inline splice for joining jacketed concentric neutral (JCN) and concentric neutral (CN) power cables
  • Special electrode design of the kit reduces the electrical stress at a critical cable/splice interface
  • Designed for inline splicing, feeder and distribution circuits, size transition splicing, direct burial installations and submerged locations
  • Silicon rubber-splice body provides good high and low temperature performance, and the EPDM rubber jacket offers physical protection
  • Rated for 25/28 kV cables
  • High-voltage, production-tested for partial discharge and AC ensure reliability

3M™ Cold Shrink QS-III Inline CN/JCN Cable Splices 5456A-WG, 5457A-WG and 5458A-WG are inline splices for joining 25/28 kV jacketed concentric neutral (JCN) or concentric neutral (CN) power cables. It is a cold shrink design.

The cold shrink splice body is a one-piece molded design made of specially formulated silicone rubbers, while the jacketing is made of EPDM rubber for its special physical properties. Each splice is high-voltage production tested to ensure reliability. Kits can be ordered with connectors packed in the kit or the kit and connector can be ordered as separate items. Meets requirements of IEEE 404. Each kit makes one splice. Note: 5456A-WG, 5457A-WG and 5458A-WG are partially jacketed splices containing built-in bleeder wires. Additional end user materials are required to convert to full jacketing. Note: Cable sizes shown below are for standard insulation thickness. Final determining factor is cable insulation O.D.
