3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Epoxy Adhesive DP405 is a two-part epoxy adhesive engineered for structural bonding across a variety of substrates, including metals and composites. Its 4-minute working time delivers a fast bond with high shear and peel strength. This structural bond performance may be considered as an alternative to mechanical fasteners, screws, rivets, and spot welds in most applications, helping simplify assembly and support lighter assemblies on appropriate applications.
Engineered for demanding industrial assembly, 3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Epoxy Adhesive DP405 is designed with a 2:1 mix ratio that dispenses as a black, medium-viscosity adhesive for added application control. Its toughened formulation is designed to provide durable bonds that can withstand impact, vibration, and heat exposure. A tolerance to elevated temperatures, up to 392 °F (200 °C) for up to 30 minutes, makes this adhesive a strong option for coated metal finishing processes such as paint bake. This adhesive fully cures in 24 hours at room temperature — 73 °F (23 °C) — making it ideal for heatless or overnight curing workflows. Common applications include metalworking, composite fabrication, and small-part assembly. 3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Epoxy Adhesive DP420 is available in bulk and in Duo-Pak cartridges in 1.69 fl oz (50 ml), 6.76 fl oz (200 ml), and 14.07 fl oz (400 ml). It is designed to be compatible with the 3M™ EPX Applicator System for accurate metering, mixing, and dispensing.
