Its 2:1 mix ratio formula dispenses as a flowable, black adhesive, providing a 20-minute working time window — supporting repositioning and realignment for accurate component placement during assembly.
3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Epoxy Adhesive DP420 Black is engineered for demanding assembly applications. This toughened epoxy is designed to resist impact making it well-suited for structural bonding of metals and composites. It reaches handling strength in approximately 2.5 hours and can also be heated to accelerate cure, providing flexibility for variable curing workflows. Once fully cured in 24 hours at room temperature — 73 °F (23 °C) — 3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Epoxy Adhesive DP420 Black delivers structural bond strength that may help reduce screws, rivets, mechanical fasteners, and spot welds in most applications, helping simplify assembly, reduce weight, and improve stress distribution across the bond line. Its formula helps maintain bond integrity when exposed to humidity, temperatures, diesel, gasoline, salt water, and water. Always refer to technical data sheet for details on resistance limitations. It is engineered to tolerate exposures of up to 392 °F (200 °C) for up to 30 minutes, making it compatible with common paint bake processes. Typical applications include panel bonding, potting, composite assembly, and structural bonding in metalworking, transportation, sporting goods, marine, and general industrial manufacturing. 3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Epoxy Adhesive DP420 Black is available in bulk and in Duo-Pak cartridges in 1.69 fl oz (50 ml), 6.76 fl oz (200 ml), and 14.07 fl oz (400 ml). It is compatible with the 3M™ EPX Applicator System for accurate metering, mixing, and dispensing.
