3M™ Acrylic Foam Tape 5666 is designed for streamlined application of lightweight auto trim and parts. This automotive OEM tape features a strong yet conformable 1.14 mm viscoelastic acrylic foam with acrylic adhesive on both sides. The adhesive makes for cost-effective attachment in less-demanding applications, and is ideal with an adhesion promoter for high final adhesion and peel strength.
The foam core provides stress relaxation when exposed to high application loads
Great for Cost-Effective Attachment of Lightweight Trim and Moldings
3M™ Acrylic Foam Tape 5666 is an excellent choice for durable, consistent attachment of lighter moldings, trims, nameplates and emblems to automotive surfaces. This OEM attachment tape is built on a core of viscoelastic medium-density acrylic foam that provides a blend of strength and conformability for a flush, professional appearance. The foam core provides stress relaxation when exposed to high application loads, while maintaining tight bond-line aesthetics under normal conditions. Pressure sensitive adhesive is applied to both sides of the foam core for a combination of high peel performance and cost-effectiveness. It is formulated for adhesion to a variety of automotive substrates including plastics as well as painted surfaces. A red, 3M branded, polyethylene release liner helps ensure one-piece release for efficient application.
3M recommends the use of 3M™ Automotive Adhesion Promoter 06396 for effective adhesion with 3M™ Acrylic Foam Tape 5666 on painted surfaces and plastic parts such as RIM, TPO, PPO, PP and PC.
