3M™ Acrylic Foam Tape 5390 features a thick, conformable 2.29 mm acrylic foam core designed for stress relaxation, ideal for applications that require a thick foam. The adhesive applied to both sides is formulated for bonding to rigid high-solids clear coat systems. The core adapts well to complex geometries and delivers excellent wet-out for a consistent and durable bond even to heavier parts.
Designed for Bonding Mismatched Contours
Developed specifically for attaching exterior trim and other parts to automotive substrates, our 3M™ Acrylic Foam Tape 5390 (PDF, 171.3 Kb) features a thick 2.29 mm acrylic foam core with the same acrylic adhesive applied to both sides. The acrylic adhesive delivers high initial and final tack to automotive trim and part materials such as plastics with plasticizers, as well as traditional and newer automotive paints including rigid clear coat systems. With testing and verification, the adhesive may also be suitable for ABS, PC and many flexible clear coats. The gray color of 3M™ Acrylic Foam Tape 5390 gives a pleasing bond line aesthetic. A red, 3M branded liner provides easy one-piece release for efficient application.
Thick Foam Core Handles Higher Loads
The viscoelastic foamed acrylic core of 3M™ Acrylic Foam Tape 5390 is 2.29 mm thick, and adapts well to complex shapes. It features excellent wet-out properties for a durable, consistent bond. Its thickness as well as its viscoelastic stress distribution properties result in added strength for applying to substrates with surface contours and heavier components under higher loads.
Confidence in Your Purchase
The 3M branded liner (PDF, 147.5 Kb) features a subtle 3M logo marking to provide evidence to the customer that they are receiving the 3M quality they expect from their purchase. The liner makes our tapes easy to identify and difficult to imitate. Proprietary branding technology is designed to help identification of 3M™ Acrylic Foam Tape.
