Highlights
  • UL94 V-0 listed
  • Does not contain intentionally added silicone, so there is not siloxane VOC or oil bleeding, which are associated with silicone products
  • Conformable even for non-flat surfaces
  • Good conformability to fill gaps for excellent thermal conductivity
  • Good electrical insulation properties
  • Soft, compliant material allows for pressure relaxation, helping to reduce high pressure zones on components
  • Incorporates a thin acrylic layer for easy handling during pre-assembly and die cutting
  • Good wetting performance for better thermal conductivity

3M™ Thermally Conductive Acrylic Interface Pad 5571 is a thermal interface material designed to provide a heat transfer path from heat-generating components to a cooling device (e.g., aluminum plate or heat sink) to improve device reliability and component lifespan. This product can be used for different applications including EV battery thermal management and more.

A single-layer product, 3M thermally conductive acrylic interface pad 5571 is a slightly tacky acrylic elastomer sheet with a conductive ceramic filler. It is moderately conformable to uneven substrates, helping fill gaps for improved thermal performance. It is a medium-soft pad with high thermal conductivity of 2.1 W/m-K (3M test method).

Recommended applications: Electrical Insulation, Heat Dissipation, Heat Spreading, Heat Transfer, Thermal Management.

Frequently asked questions

3M Thermally Conductive Acrylic Interface Pads are designed to provide a preferential heat transfer path from heat-generating components to a cooling device (e.g., aluminum plate or heat sink).
3M Thermally Conductive Acrylic Interface Pads feature a special surface on either one side or both sides, which allows for attachment to parts, for example a cooling plate made of aluminum, which could be enough for transportation.
Typical applications include heat dissipation for battery, power electronics and human machine interface (HMI) displays.
3M™ Thermally Conductive Acrylic Interface Pad 5571 is the only product from this portfolio which could be used in non-automotive applications, but a risk assessment would be required in any case.
The processing, tabbing and splicing of 3M Thermally Conductive Acrylic Interface Pads will be comparable to that of 3M™ Acrylic Foam Tapes.
3M Thermally Conductive Acrylic Interface Pads are available in roll formats, parts on roll design, and individual parts or sheets.
The amount of required compression force depends on part design and the product’s hardness, and in specific situations could be up to 50%.
Dielectric strength is also defined as dielectrical breakdown voltage. Its value reflects the thickness and ceramic filler content product by product. Please consult the product technical data sheets to obtain the range of performance.
To obtain optimal wet out of the thermally conductive pad to the surface, a minimum of amount of compression is required, e.g., 10-20%. The gap should allow space to meet this requirement.
These products have good durability and withstand heat resistance test in a heat chamber for 1000 h at 110 °C. Extended testing is available upon request.
