    Pharmaceutical and Chemical Processing

    Secondary loop cooling systems used for pharmaceutical freeze-drying applications and chemical reactor cooling take advantage of the unique benefits of 3M heat transfer fluids. The low temperature properties of Novec fluids enable excellent heat transfer and process uniformity. Unlike solvents and oils typically used in these applications, Novec engineered fluids are not classified as flammable liquids which then provides a high margin of worker safety. Similarly, these characteristics of Novec fluids enables Organic Rankine Cycle Systems to efficiently recover low temperature waste heat. In addition, Novec fluids have low global warming potential and zero ozone depletion potential compared to high global warming HFCs which are also used in ORC applications.
