  • The cost of a car wrap depends on many different factors, primarily the size of the vehicle, coverage options and the specific wrap film you’d like to use.   • Generally, a full car wrap installation takes about a day. However, we recommend leaving your car in the shop for another day to help ensure proper adhesion of the film to the car has been achieved. If you’re looking for a partial wrap then the time needed will be much shorter. Upon submitting your request, the installer will be able to inform you of the amount of time that your wrap will require.

  • Yes. Our wrapping materials are made and tested to withstand the elements. You can help protect the beauty and life of your wrap by storing your vehicle inside when possible, and regular and thorough cleaning.
  • Car wrap film should receive the same care as car paint. Regular cleaning is vital, as dirt will get stuck to the vehicle. We recommend routine trips to a brushless car wash (with no hot wax or wax option) or wash carefully by hand using a mild detergent with no additives such as wax. Dry thoroughly to avoid spotting.
  • Yes. When removed within the 3M warranty period, they are guaranteed to remove cleanly. If any residue remains, it is easily cleaned off. Professional removal by a 3M Authorized installer is recommended.
  • Removal within the wraps warranty period is very unlikely to cause any damage. Areas that have been covered by the wrap material may in fact appear more vibrant and glossier having been protected from the elements by the wrap. However, poorly cured resprays are more vulnerable so always consult the installer if you have had a respray. Professional removal by a 3M Authorized installer is recommended.
  • Certainly, yes. In fact some of the most unique and interesting wraps have been just doing detailing like the roof, hood/bonnet, wing mirrors or front grill. It’s a great way to personalize your car without going to the expense of a full wrap. Get inspired.

Depending on the application angle of your wrap film installation, whether you apply your wrap film to a vertical surface (e.g. door panel) or a non-vertical one (e.g. hood, roof), exposure to the elements can affect the duration of your warranty.

    3M warrants that film will be free of defects in materials and manufacture including:

    Vertical angle of exposure:any wrap film installed on a surface that is at a 90 degree to 75 degree angle

    Horizontal angle of exposure: any wrap film installed on a surface that is at a 75 - 0 degree angle

    3M™ Wrap Film Vehicle Owner Warranty
    3M designs, formulates and manufactures 3M™ Wrap Film Series 2080 for optimum performance and durability. The 3M commitment to quality is the foundation for the warranty coverage we provide.

    Limited Warranty and Limited Remedy
    The following warranty is only valid in the United States and Canada.

    3M warrants that applied 3M™ Wrap Film Series 2080 will be free of defects in materials and manufacture – including yellowing, bubbling or cracking. This warranty does not apply to damage caused by misuse, accident, misapplication or ordinary wear, nor does it apply to dents caused by physical impact of rocks or road debris. Warranty coverage does not include paint pull during film removal process. This warranty is only provided to the original consumer purchaser and is not transferable.

    Implied Warranty Limitation:
    All implied warranties and conditions, including but not limited to the implied warranty or condition of merchantability, the implied warranty or condition of fitness for a particular purpose, and any implied warranty or condition arising out of a course of dealing or of performance, custom or usage of trade, are limited in duration to the applicable warranty time period. Some states’ jurisdictions do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, so the above limitation may not apply to you.

    Limitation of Liability:
    Except where prohibited by law, 3M and the installer of the 3M product shall not be liable for any loss or damage arising from the 3M product, whether direct, indirect, special, incidental or consequential, regardless of the legal theory asserted, including warranty, contract, negligence or strict liability.   • Caring for your 3M™ Paint Protection Film is easy. After film installation, wait one week before washing or waxing your vehicle to help ensure proper adhesion build of the film has been achieved. No special maintenance is required but if you would like to wax your vehicle, use waxes that do not contain dyes, abrasive polishes and/or rubbing compounds. 3M recommends 3M™ Performance Finish when waxing your car. After waxing your car, you can remove any wax build-up along film edges with a lint-free cloth.     Limited Warranty and Limited Remedy


    This warranty does not apply to damage caused by misuse, accident, misapplication or ordinary wear, nor does it apply to dents caused by physical impact of rocks or road debris. Warranty coverage does not include paint pull during film removal process. This warranty is only provided to the original consumer purchaser and is not transferable. Register your warranty online to validate at 3m.com/ppfwarranty. By entering the information into 3M’s warranty registration system, you consent to allow 3M to share with Carfax, the VIN number and installation date. Your personal information (name, address, phone number, etc.) WILL NOT be included in the submission to Carfax. Some installers may choose to offer, on their own behalf, different or additional warranties or remedies, beyond the limited warranty and limited remedy offered by 3M. This warranty does not apply to headlights.

Window Tint FAQs

  • 3M Automotive Window Films are designed to reduce the amount of solar heat transmission through window glass by increasing the solar reflection (not necessarily visible reflection) and solar absorption through the glass.
  • Nothing completely stops fading. 3M Window Films are designed to help reduce the major causes of fading (ultra violet light, visible light, and solar heat), thus prolonging the life of your furnishings, perhaps as much as two to five times. Generally, ultra violet (UV) is approximately 40% of the cause, visible light is about 25%, and heat about 25%. The remaining 10% can be attributed to humidity, pollutants, interior lights, dye stability, and more.
  • After thirty (30) days, you may clean 3M™ Films using normal household cleaning solutions, including ammonia-based products: e.g., Windex, and a soft, lint-free cloth or towel. You may also use a squeegee to clean the films. Abrasive products which would scratch or damage the film should not be used.
  • 3M™ Safety and Security Window Films are designed to make glass shatter-resistant by holding the glass pieces together when broken.

  • Nano-ceramic technology provides a high level of infrared heat rejection due to the absorptive technology.   • 1) TSER – Total Solar Energy Rejection: The percentage of total solar energy rejected by filmed glass. The higher this value, the less solar heat is transmitted.

    2) VLT – Visible Light Transmitted: The percentage of visible light that passes directly through filmed glass: the higher the number, the lighter the film.

    3) Ultraviolet Rejection: The percentage of ultraviolet (UV) light that is rejected by the filmed glass. UV light contributes to the fading and deterioration of fabrics and leather.

    4) IRR – Infrared Rejection: The percentage of solar infrared energy rejection, over the wavelength range from 900-1,000 nm. Infrared rays are primarily responsible for the heat you feel when driving

    5) IRER – Infrared Energy Rejection: The percent of solar infrared energy rejection over the wavelength range from 780–2,500 nm. IRER takes into account the transmitted and absorbed IR energy that will be reradiated into a car.

    6) Glare Reduction: The percentage by which visible light is reduced by the addition of film.

    In the event the product is found to be defective under this warranty, seller will replace such quantity of film proved to be defective. Seller will also provide reapplication labor free of charge during the warranty period. This warranty is provided only to original consumer and is not transferable.

    The legality of automotive window tinting varies from state to state or province to province. 3M shall not be responsible for or have any obligation to determine the legality of the consumer’s window film application, so consumers should familiarize themselves with the applicable legal standards in their state or province. Moreover, while this warranty will cover and replace the defective product itself regardless of where the product is installed on a vehicle, the consumer will hold harmless against any and all liability, loss, and expense arising out of an illegal application of the product. The warranty covers the application of 3M Automotive Window Films. Seller reserves the right to test any films under warranty services.

    The warranty is VOID if the product has been subjected to abuse or improper care. Except for the obligation to replace defective film and reapply film as described above, Seller shall not be liable in either tort or contract for any loss or damage, direct, indirect, special, consequential, or incidental, arising out of the use or inability to use this product. Some states or provinces do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply. This warranty gives you specific legal rights and you may also have other rights which vary from state to state or province to province.
