3M™ Thinsulate™ Acoustic Insulation MTM Series

3M™ Thinsulate™ Acoustic Insulation MTM Series is a cavity filling solution for automotive sound insulation applications. Its moldability allows for design flexibility and efficient placement in limited spaces. The Thinsulate MTM Series offers high absorption in mid-to-high frequencies (800 -5,000Hz) while maintaining a light weight.  Thinsulate MTM Series products are designed to help reduce unwanted noise on the interior cabin of vehicles.

This thin, high cavity filling solution enables complex geometries for design flexibility and can be molded into a 3D shape. It tailors to the required thickness and is used in areas where space is constrained. The high loft and sharpened edge increases the total volume of the part, offering high acoustic performance by effectively using limited application spaces. Thinsulate MTM Series ranges in basis weight from 290 to 790 gsm, and the products are recommended for use in a range of positions on the vehicle based on weight, including the vehicle hood, outer dash, engine under cover, and the fender liner.
