Dream, Design, Deliver with 3M™ VHB™ Tape LSE-160WF. It is a white, 62 mil thick, modified acrylic adhesive on both sides of a conformable foam core. It can replace rivets, welds and screws as well as other forms of mechanical fasteners.
Dream, Design, Deliver with the LSE Family of 3M™ VHB™ Tapes
The 3M VHB Tape LSE Series masters the challenge of low surface energy (LSE) bonding and delivers durable results where other bonding solutions need additional support on special surface treatment. It offers a superior bonding performance without primer on difficult to bond substrates such as PP, TPO, TPE, and composite materials. By eliminating the need for priming in your production, the LSE Series increases productivity and reduces the use of harmful chemicals in your facilities. Excellent durability including its wide temperature resistance ensure ultimate performance strength and reliability for in- and outdoor applications. The fast and easy to use permanent bonding method provides high strength and offers design flexibility with its viscoelasticity, making it an ideal fit for multi material bonding due to his properties on thermal expansion.
The LSE family of 3M™ VHB™ Tapes utilizes modified acrylic adhesive on both sides of a conformable, adhesive foam core. The combination of strength, conformability and adhesion makes this family one of the most capable and well-rounded 3M™ VHB™ Tapes. It masters the challenge of low surface energy (LSE) bonding and delivers durable results where other solutions need additional support on special surface treatment. It offers superior bonding performance on difficult to bond substrates such as PP, TPO, TPE, and composite materials including glass filled plastics, glass and carbon reinforced or gel coated composites as well as most polyester paints without primer. It also bonds well to many MSE plastics and metals. The modified acrylic construction makes the 3M VHB Tape LSE Series resist hot, cold and cycling temperatures, UV light, moisture and solvents and seals against environmental conditions. Its performance in a wide temperature range provides a durable alternative to rivets, welds and screws. 3M VHB Tape permanently adheres one substrate to another and spreads the stress load across the entire length of the joint. The soft foam features excellent stress relaxation and gap filling which allows for a more complete bond contact area when bonding rigid or irregular materials. This will give you a flexible bond that resists dynamic stresses. The 3M VHB Tape LSE Series is designed for multi material bonding as it offers versatile performance at various temperatures on MSE and LSE surfaces that allows for thermal expansion when bonding dissimilar materials. The temperature resistance of +100 °C in long term and +150 °C in short term bonding results in an excellent durability both, indoors and outdoors across a wide range of applications and industries. It further provides high initial tack at low temperatures on frost free surfaces down to 0 °C. Benefit from faster and reliable bonds in cold areas and seasons such as in outdoor applications on site or unheated factories.
Applications for this tape include bonding and sealing of panel to frame and stiffener to panel applications especially in transportation, signage and appliances markets. Discover new possibilities of design engineering and improve aesthetics and productivity.
Convenience Meets Extreme Bonding Power
Our 3M™ VHB™ Tape consists of a durable acrylic adhesive with viscoelastic properties. This provides an extraordinarily strong double sided foam tape that adheres to a broad range of substrates, including aluminium, stainless steel, galvanized steel, many composites and plastics, also LSE plastics, acrylic, polycarbonate, ABS and painted or sealed wood. Our bonding tapes provide excellent shear strength, conformability, surface adhesion and temperature resistance. They are commonly used in applications across a variety of markets including transportation, appliance, electronics, sign and display and general industrial. Reliably bonds a variety of materials with strength and speed for permanent applications.
Recommended Applications: Decorative material and trim, Nameplates and logos, Electronic displays, Panel to frame, Stiffener to panel
An Unconventional Foam Tape
We invented 3M™ VHB™ Tapes in 1980 as the first of their kind. These unique tapes combine conformability with a strong, permanent bond. The result is a family of extraordinarily strong tapes that adhere to a broad range of substrates. 3M™ VHB™ Tape is a proven alternative to screws, rivets, welds and other forms of mechanical fasteners. Skyscrapers, cell phones, electronic highway signs, refrigerators, architectural windows and more all rely on this specialty bonding tape for one or more steps in the assembly, mounting, fastening and sealing process. This trusted and reliable tape offers a consistent bond, outstanding durability and excellent solvent and moisture resistance. 3M stands by all of its products and is there to provide you with design guidance and technical support when you need it.
Proven Reliability from 3M™ VHB™ Tapes
3M™ VHB™ Tape offers a durable bond in a way that mechanical fasteners can't. This tape enhances the appearance of finished goods by eliminating rivets and screws while providing immediate handling strength. In most cases, fastening with 3M™ VHB™ Tape is a quicker process than drilling, fastening, or using liquid adhesive. Our versatile line of tapes can be used indoors or outdoors in a variety of applications, including window, door and sign assembly, electronics, construction and countless other industrial applications. Chemically resistant as well as UV and temperature stable, 3M™ VHB™ Tape can withstand the heat of Dubai to the cold of Canada. The unique acrylic chemistry is extremely durable and resistant to change over time, making this a long-lasting and powerful tape you can trust.
