The 3M™ Hookit™ Gold Sheet 236U is built for long life during auto body hand sanding projects requiring coarser grit abrasives. Open coat aluminum oxide abrasive and durable C-weight film backing provide a long-lasting cut and excellent loading resistance for rough featheredging or shaping plastic filler and putty. Our Hookit™ attachment system saves time and maximizes abrasive life.

The Standard in Coarse to Refined Sanding
A grade range from P80 to P800 along with durable film backing make our 3M™ Hookit™ Gold Abrasive Sheet 236U ideal for a wide range of hand sanding and machine sanding projects from primer sanding to rough featheredging, scratch refinement on bare metal, paint removal around damaged areas and more. With its open coat construction and aluminum oxide mineral abrasive, it provides a sharp cut - more aggressive than a comparable closed coat abrasive of the same grade - without as much dust accumulating on the sheet. The Hookit™ Gold Abrasive Sheet (PDF, 4.1 Mb) 236U is suitable for a variety of substrates including clear coat, fiberglass, filler, metal, paint, plastic, putty and SMC.

Resists Dust and Debris
Open coat construction means the abrasive grains on our 3M™ Hookit™ Gold Abrasive Sheet 236U are placed with space between them to help evacuate sanding dust and other debris to avoid clogging the cutting edge of the grains. The load-resistant coating on the abrasive grains also allows the sheet to continue cutting even when sanding paints, fillers, putties and other materials that would otherwise clog the sheet and hinder sanding ability. All of this adds up to increased productivity and reduced material consumption.

Hard, Tough and Sharp
3M's fastest cutting, longest lasting abrasive for saving labor costs and improving quality. Aluminum oxide is popular among collision repair professionals because of its fast cut-rate and long life. This natural mineral makes a tough, durable abrasive that self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges, whereas traditional natural abrasives dull more quickly. Due to its fast cut-rate, hardness and strength, it is widely used in grinding applications in addition to sanding and finishing applications. Aluminum oxide is suitable for a wide variety of materials in metalworking, including ferrous alloys, for auto body applications.

Our Hookit™ Attachment System
3M offers a complete line of hook-and-loop style Hookit™ abrasive sheets for work spaces where adhesive backed sheets may become contaminated by dust, dirt, or flying debris. Hookit™ sanding sheets conveniently and firmly attach to a hand file board or sanding block (sold separately) or a random orbital sander. It's simple: just slap the sheet on and start sanding. Sheets are removed just as cleanly and easily, and can be re-used again and again for the extent of the abrasive life.

Durable from Front to Back
Through a combination of science and strength - from the grain to the backing to the attachment - our 3M™ Hookit™ Gold Abrasive Sheet 236U delivers long life, consistently sharp cut and fantastic dust resistance. The result is better hand sanding jobs, and better collision repair operations.
