Customer Reviews
3M™ Marine Adhesive Sealant 4000 UV is rated 2.0 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Daily use in our industry. You see a lot of negative reviews on this product after people don’t follow directions applying it. First off, it’s meant to be flexible, secondly it needs time to cure. If you can figure out how to apply it you can figure out how to read the instructions; clean and prep your surface before applying.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Waste of money and time. We restored our Boston Whaler last summer and sealed out the deck plate and removable gas tank cover. Not even a year has passed and it is already cracking. So we started to remove the 4000 and found the top was dry, chalky, and cracked and in some spots it was still sticky and wet.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This product is terrible. Dug out all caulk on our boat two years ago and used 4000uv as a replacement, huge mistake. After pulling the boat this year noticed caulk is turning into chalk. Not looking forward to another winter of redoing this because of a sub par product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Must have been a defective batch! I used this on RV roof where fiberglass meets side aluminum strip as per 3M’s recommendation. I’m shocked that now just two years later is badly cracked, moldy, and crumbling off on top yet still tacky down below. Seems like the “UV” part of it might have been missing? Now I have to dig out this mess and re-do it with something meant for outdoor exposure, and based on the response I received from 3M, the replacement will NOT be a 3M product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Lacks Durability I am a professional recreatioinal marine tech with over thirty years experience and fully satisfied with multiple 3M products. However, based on product claims, I decided to try 4000uv beginning several years ago. I have discovered that it degrades in volume (wears away) and begins, in sections, to soften to an oily peanut butter consistancy that will wipe loose with a rag. 3M should revisit there testing protocols and remove or improve this product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Burst Tube I previously had good luck with 4200 and 5200 and decided to purchase a large tube of 4000. I am a little disappointed (based on the price of the product) that the tube burst in the gun and the product was wasted.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from excellent product We have used this stuff to seal in a wet, industrial environment for the last 2 years, Once it is set in place it does not leak or break loose like the silicone based sealers we have used in the past. It is difficult to get apart once set but that is great in my opinion its doing its job well.
