3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Structural Adhesive Primer EW-5000AS is our sprayable, heat curing, epoxy based structural adhesive aerospace primer containing a non-chromated corrosion inhibiting (NCCI) package that provides protection against corrosive environments. We developed this water-borne solution to deliver comparable performance to solvent based products offering more choices in respective processes.

3M water-borne formula can be used to apply an anticorrosion coating or heat cured to make the coating more durable. EW-5000AS provides a solvent-resistant coating for future adhesive bonding up to 90 days to allow for optimal process flow and scheduling. The stable coating also protects etched and anodized substrates during storage.

In general, 3M Scotch-Weld™ structural adhesive primers complement the 3M Scotch-Weld™ Structural Adhesives portfolio and can be used to protect prepared substrates to be bonded. They facilitate "wet-out" of the primary adhesive agent to facilitate the bond between substrate and coating extrudate, then cured to enhance chemical resistance. 3M adhesive primers help prepare the surfaces for the bonding agents and improve the conditions so that the adhesives are more effective and create stronger, longer lasting bonds.
