Scotch-Brite™ Clean and Strip Bonded Cleaning Brush aggressively cleans and deburrs a variety of hard metals. It’s a heavy-duty abrasive designed to clean substrates and rid them of rust, corrosion, light mill scale and other surface contaminants from metal sheet or coil.
Heavy-Duty Cleaning
Among our Scotch-Brite™ Flap and Cleaning Brushes, the Scotch-Brite™ Clean and Strip Bonded Cleaning Brush is one of the most aggressive brushes.
Combining extra coarse (XCS) silicon carbide mineral with hard densities (5, 7) makes this Scotch-Brite™ brush especially tough and strong. When brought in contact with the workpiece, this brush will not yield or cut as softly other brushes — for example, the Clean & Finish Flap Brush or the High Strength Flap Brush. As operators know, many variables impact which abrasive should be used. For some applications, a lighter, softer abrasive is the best choice. For applications that require heavy-duty cleaning, our Scotch-Brite™ Clean and Strip Bonded Cleaning Brush is a good choice.
Constructed from Circular sections of non-woven material, bonded to a cylindrical core
Durable Construction of Scotch-Brite™ Cleaning Brushes
We engineer Scotch-Brite™ cleaning brushes by attaching circular sections of non-woven material to a cylindrical core. Typical applications for cleaning brushes include coil cleaning prior to coating, deburring, reclaiming sheet and coil and scale / oxide removal. The Scotch-Brite™ brush has an arbor hole to accommodate a shaft and may be secured in place with a flange and key. It will not fray or splinter when faced with edges. The steel core on the brush keeps it sturdy and adds a level of durability to the brush when it's run on finishing equipment. Operators may choose to add a lubricant or coolant when cleaning, because it helps wash away swarf and reduce loading, which extends the brush's service life.
The Many Benefits of Open Web Abrasives
Nonwoven technology makes our Scotch-Brite™ industrial abrasives unique. A combination of fiber strands, resin, and abrasive mineral forms a thick, open web. The spring-like nature of the fibers responds to contours and effectively removes unwanted burrs, soils and contaminants while maintaining the geometry of the workpiece, which in turn reduces rework and boosts productivity. Gaps in the web allow swarf to escape, so debris does not clog the mineral.
Fibers in the web continually break down with use to reveal fresh mineral for exceptional consistency, superior cut performance, and extremely long service life. Scotch-Brite™ products not only enhance productivity, but also increase operator safety by reducing the need for cleaning chemicals and pastes, and replacing wire brushes that can break off and cause injury. From aesthetic finishing to weld blending, deburring, and more, Scotch-Brite™ abrasives work fast and deliver consistent results, part after part.
Note: When ordering a bonded construction cleaning brush, please allow an additional 1-1/4" to provide clearance for the 5/8" lock collars located at both ends of the brush. For instance, if you require 40" of usable brush width, order a 40" wide brush. This brush, however, when measured at the core will actually be 41-1/4" including the lock collars.
