Standard Abrasives™ Cleaning Disc is ideal for surface cleaning tasks like removing corrosion, rust, scale, paint, varnishes and sealants. Constructed of large nylon filament, this disc’s open, non-loading structure performs rapid removal of surface contaminants while producing fine finishes.

Silicon Carbide Abrasive
Our Standard Abrasives™ Cleaning Disc is constructed of large nylon filament and coarse silicon carbide grain for rapid removal of surface contaminants. Silicon carbide is a very sharp synthetic mineral commonly used in low-pressure applications like paint prep. While the mineral breaks down faster than aluminum oxide, it produces a finer finish. This makes the Standard Abrasives™ Cleaning Disc best suited for sanding and finishing applications on fiberglass, composites or soft metals.

Open Coat Construction
Abrasives cut better and last longer when dust isn’t clogging the cutting surface. Open coat construction means the abrasive grains are placed with space between them to help evacuate sanding debris and avoid clogging of the grains’ cutting edges. Additionally, the open coat feature provides a more aggressive cut than a comparable closed coat abrasive of the same grade. This all adds up to increased productivity and reduced material consumption.
