3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Structural Adhesive Primer EW-5005 is a sprayable, water-based, non-chromated structural adhesive aerospace primer designed to meet key industry screening requirements. This high-performance bond primer provides durable protection, promotes adhesion at the substrate interface and inhibits corrosion within and outside the bondline.

A Non-Chromated Formula to Prevent Corrosion
3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Structural Adhesive Primer EW-5005 is a water-based bond primer that inhibits corrosion and can decrease solvent emissions when compared to solvent based primers.

Its REACH compliant*water-based formulation is compatible with both traditional surface treatments and Sol-Gel surface treatments such as 3M™ Surface Pre-treatment AC-130-2, and delivers 3X more efficient spray transfer over traditional solvent-based primers. This primer, for use on OEM aircraft, rotorcraft, military platforms and more, has been independently tested for performance that matches similar solvent-based systems.

A Fully Compatible System with 3M™ Structural Adhesives
In general, 3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Structural Adhesive Primers complement the Scotch Weld™ Structural Adhesives portfolio. They facilitate consistent "wet-out" of the primary adhesive film to the substrate, and enhance chemical resistance upon curing. Our adhesive primers prepare the surfaces for the bonding agents so that the adhesives are more effective and create stronger, longer-lasting bonds.
