Scotch® Vinyl Electrical Tape Super 88 is an all-weather, premium-grade tape created to provide a protective jacket and primary electrical insulation for splices up to 600V, with a total thickness of 8.5 mil (0.216 mm) when applied. The thickness of the tape broadens the range of applications, particularly heavy-duty operations. This tape is engineered with pressure-sensitive rubber resin adhesive and elastic PVC backing, providing electrical and mechanical protection for a variety of applications. It is known for its strength and reliability, excelling in extreme indoor and outdoor conditions to help protect electrical conductors from UV exposure. Whether the application involves low-voltage primary or secondary insulation, cable jacketing, or mechanical protection and padding, Scotch® Vinyl Electrical Tape Super 88 offers excellent insulation and adhesion properties. Meeting the requirements for flame retardancy, the tape can be used within temperatures from 0 °F to 221 °F (-18 °C to 105 °C) and is UL 510 Listed, CSA C22.2 No.197 and VDE Mark Certificate no. 130462; Type 7: IEC 60454-3-1-7/F-PVCP/90, IEC 60454-3-1-7/F-PVCP/90 Certified, and RoHS Compliant. Scotch® Vinyl Electrical Tape Super 88 and the other products in this family are designed to address the daily challenges customers face in the industry. Through innovation and rigorous testing, 3M is committed to delivering high-performance products that helps customers enhance application efficiency and effectiveness, featuring aggressive backings and adhesives that endure environments with extreme temperatures and moisture. For best application practices, apply in half-lapped layers with enough tension to create a uniform wrap. For most applications, this tension will reduce the tape width to approximately 5/8 of its original size. When taping pigtail splices, wrap the tape beyond the ends of the wires and then fold it back to provide a protective cushion against cut-through. For the final wrap, apply the tape without tension to help prevent flagging. Discover how Scotch® Vinyl Electrical Tape Super 88 can enhance the performance of your electrical applications.
