3M Structured Abrasives

Featuring microreplicated fine diamond grade abrasive, 3M™ Trizact™ Structured Abrasives remove material much faster than many conventional abrasive techniques such as coarse slurries or fixed pellets. They can also help limit damage to substrates while dramatically reducing process time by up to 60%, according to 3M in-house testing. These structured abrasives from 3M can virtually eliminate the messy residue of slurry lapping. Your process, equipment, and manufacturing environment can be kept cleaner and disposal and waste management can be simplified.

  • About 3M™ Trizact™ Abrasives

    Featuring 3M microreplication technology for precise, uniform abrasive surfaces. Patterned three-dimensional structures are evenly spaced for truly consistent, refined finishes that you won’t get from most non-microreplicated abrasive. Plus, the mineral starts sharp and stays sharp longer – as mineral grains break off during use, more sharp mineral is exposed for faster, more consistent lapping and polishing and longer abrasive life.


  • 3M™ Trizact™ Edge Finishing

    3M™ Trizact™ Polishing Film Sheet 578XA and 3M™ Trizact™ Diamond Polishing Film Sheet 678XAEL can help you achieve better shape control, improved strength and faster processing vs. conventional abrasives, including for CNC/robotic polishing or precision edge finishing. They allow for outstanding matte or gloss finishes, and can help reduce subsurface damage. Common substrates include borosilicate glass, soda-lime or aluminosilicate glass, crystalline quartz, fused quartz/fused silicas, glass ceramic, lithium niobate, sapphire, silicon and silicon carbide.

    Common applications:
     

    • Edge polishing cover glass for handheld electronics
    • Surface and edge polishing on housings, covers, and lenses for wearable devices
    • Edge polishing of semiconductor wafer substrates
    • Edge polishing of LCD/LED displays
  • 3M™ Trizact™ Diamond Tile

    3M™ Trizact™ Diamond Tile 677XA and 3M™ Trizact™ Diamond Tile 677XAEL are excellent for both single and double-sided lapping. They mount to machine plates with a pressure-sensitive adhesive, helping reduce setup and change times when lapping glass substrates, producing silicon wafers or fabricating of metal, electronic, and optical products. Common substrates include optical substrates, quartz, sapphire, ceramics, carbides such as tungsten carbide, graphite and high-hardness metals.
