Pure Landscape, Inc. a Goodyear, Arizona-based landscaping company and patio furniture retailer, wanted to differentiate itself in the marketplace. The team wanted the look of a professional company with a presence in the community. It worked with azpro, a large-format graphics provider in Avondale, Arizona to design, print and apply a wrap to one of its trucks and the result was so striking, it changed the look of the company’s vehicle fleet.

“The wraps show people that we’re an established company and not just two people with a landscape truck. It shows a level of professionalism that inspires trust,” says Pure Lansdscape’s owner, Anesia St. Clair.

Different vehicles, same impact

Once the wrapped vehicle hit the road, St. Clair saw an immediate increase in inbound calls. The modern design and vibrant colors clearly made an impact on people. The company now has wrapped five vehicles of different makes and models. St. Clair says azpro has worked with them to come up with a design that was flexible enough to work for each type of vehicle.

Regardless of the size of the vehicle, the steps to ensure a successful installation are the same, says Jim Carpenter, sales manager at azpro. The goal: Make a big impact and get the truck on the road as soon as possible. For Pure, the pre-flight team scrutinized the area on the truck appropriate for printing and helped the landscape company create a memorable look that reflects its brand. The design includes a gradation of green with a pop of red—not an easy print job to perfect.

“There are many areas where something can get missed, so finding those areas before we print is essential. You’re talking about several hundred to into the thousands of dollars in materials for just one vehicle, so you want to catch those design changes before you print,” Carpenter says. His team meticulously matches the design to the vehicle to check for vehicle features that need to be accommodated such as doors, lift gates, and other components, and how the design will look once it’s scaled to the size of the truck.

Key to brand awareness

Carpenter says his go-to material for virtually every vehicle wrap is 3M™ Controltac™ Graphic Film IJ180CV3 for gloss wraps, which most of his installations are. He says the wrap holds up to wear and tear and allows him to match colors exactly. Before printing his team typically creates a color proof that’s printed to scale with the actual vehicle. That allows the team to see if the graphics are sized well or if other changes need to be made. Recently, azpro suggested changes to another client’s graphics that actually enhanced a 3D effect, making a bigger impact.

“It has to be a team effort in the design process,” he says. “When we all work together, the end result is powerful.”
