    • Screeching tires. Rumbling engines. Roaring fans. The 150 MPH adrenaline rush. These are the signature sounds and sensations of a NASCAR event. And, with 40 professional drivers speeding alongside each other, focus and precision are incredibly important for drivers inside the cars and the crew on the track. That’s why Hendrick Motorsports counts on 3M™ Novec™ 1230 Fire Protection Fluid to help keep drivers safer, and focused on what’s ahead.

Novec 1230 fluid, the same fire suppression solution that businesses around the world use to help protect data centers from fire damage, was crafted to quickly extinguish a fire in its initial stage before it has a chance to spread. In the racing world, it can be deployed in one of two ways: automatically in the car when temperatures rise, or manually by drivers in the cockpit. Though it is liquid at room temperature, it’s discharged as a gas—evaporating 50 times faster than water. That means the most critical electronics inside the car can remain operational, and the pavement outside the car can stay clean and residue-free for everyone on the track.

Designed to deliver on the need for a more sustainable clean agent, Novec 1230 fluid does its job differently. Novec 1230 fluid is better for our environment, reducing greenhouse gas emissions in fire suppression by more than 99 percent – helping NASCAR accelerate to a more sustainable future.

Learn more about the science behind Novec 1230 fluid and how it sustainably helps to keep drivers, and data, safer from fire.
