      • Every community deserves a safe and inviting place to play basketball. That’s why Scotch® Painter’s Tape teamed up with Project Backboard to transform a basketball court in Brooklyn, New York where Taj Gibson grew up. Project Backboard renovates public outdoor basketball courts and collaborates with local artists to install large-scale works of art on the court surface. The team used a fresh coat of paint to create a welcoming community space to gather.

      • The best paint jobs are those that elevate their surroundings and turn an average surface into something so much more. But to get great results, you need the right preparation. Though every job is unique, the best jobs start with one thing, Scotch® Painter’s Tape. Prepping with a painter’s tape from Scotch® Brand means you have a family of tapes specifically designed for your surfaces, and by choosing to use the right tape, you’re choosing to create a better result.

      • With a project of this scale, the team wanted people to feel a sense of energy and joy at being able to use the transformed court right away. So, it was not only important to have nice clean lines but to do the job once, without rework, and have it be perfect. So, armed with a few cans of paint, a handful of community volunteers, and a whole lot of Scotch® Painters Tape, Project Backboard and artist Steph Costello created a vibrant and welcoming gathering space for local community members.

      • After the large-scale masterpiece was finished, the buzz around the community was nonstop. People were so excited to see the bright colors and the transformed basketball court that basketball teams from all over the neighborhood came to play in the new safe and inviting space as soon as it was finished while the community cheered them on.
