3M’s commitment to PFAS stewardship

Learn the facts

Fluorochemistries, commonly referred to as PFAS, refer to a broad category of compounds that encompass thousands of materials with distinct and widely varying properties and profiles. They are highly resistant to oil, water, temperature, chemicals and fire, making them uniquely useful for many applications.

As the science and technology of PFAS, societal and regulatory expectations, and our expectations of ourselves have evolved, so has how we manage PFAS. Learn more about the work we’ve done across our sites and in the communities where we live and operate, as we work to innovate toward a world less dependent on PFAS.
