3M™High Strength Large Hole Repair is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Won’t dry! Don’t buy this product. It takes forever to become hard. It remains chalky and soft for a long time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Dry Time??? The product worked very well for my purposes. BUT! Seriously 3M what’s the big secret about dry time before sanding or just in general. Give us something or at least a range in hours. You get minus one star for that alone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent except the package We have used this product extensively for repairs in our apartment units, it’s better than anything we’ve used before! My only complaint is the package. It comes sealed with plastic film, once opened it dries out quickly because the lid is so loose. It can’t stay on by itself, must be taped or weighted. Even then it doesn’t seal at all.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Back to patch plaster I was pleased working the material into a 3” plaster ceiling hole resulting from a light fixture replacement. A day later sanded the material and added a little vinyl sparkle for some minor spots. 12 hours later while finish sanding I noticed the fill seemed soft. Was easy to push my finger through the material and remove all of it by hand. Rather unbelievable. I’m a fan of 3m products. For me this one was a miserable failure.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Help. Can't seem to add a second layer I put a first layer on and let it completely dry. I need to add a second layer now and the product just falls off and won't grip well to the first layer. I can't find any directions on if I need to moisten the first layer again, or sand, or what. I was very happy with the way the product covered initially, but I cannot get a smooth cosmetic outcome without at least one more layer...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product 1 question tho I’m using this to close a gap between a plaster wall and a new drywall wall. I’m a renter so larger reno isn’t an option. This is working great. I need to add a second layer though and it’s not sticking well to the now totally dry first layer. Any hints? Should I spray it with water first? Or do I need to sand before going for a second layer?

Rated 3 out of 5 by from How long to dry? 18 minutes Since 3M won't say, here's how to apply 3M logic to answering the question: 3M's "Patch Plus Primer" is "3x Faster" and it takes 30 minutes to dry. So, 3M's standard reference for how long "other products" take to dry must be 90 minutes. 90/5 is 18 minutes. There. I said it. Mystery resolved.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Dries 5X faster than what? Goes on pretty smoothly and can be sanded. The issue is the drying time. I realize the thickness matters, but an estimate for a 1/4 inch layer would be helpful.
