3M™ FireDam™ Coating 2000 is an intumescent fire-protective coating that expands up to 15 times in the event of fire. It is used to protect electrical cables against fire and can also be used to produce coated mineral boards suitable for providing through-penetration protection. The halogen-free water-based coating forms a strong, flexible white layer when dry.

Fire Protection for Electrical Cabling
3M™ FireDam™ Coating 2000 is designed to be a quick and easy-to-apply intumescent coating to protect interior electrical cables in the event of a fire. When exposed to fire it expands from 7 to 15 times its original volume. The water-based firestop coating is tack-free after one hour and fully dry and paintable after 16 hours. This halogen-free white coating can also be used to make coated mineral boards suitable for through-penetration protection of cables, cable trays, metal pipes, conduits and metallic ducts. It can be applied using a paintbrush, round brush, putty knife, trowel or industrial spray equipment operated at a minimum pressure of 58 psi (4 bar).
