Prepping Surfaces Before Priming and Painting
When there is sticky, oily residue left behind, you need to thoroughly clean it before painting or priming. That's where our 3M™ Prep Solvent-70 (PDF, 17.54 Kb) is needed for prepping surfaces. It is formulated to remove stubborn substances such as oils, wax, grease and silicone. If left on the surface, these substances will quickly degrade the quality of a priming or paint application. That's why even if you cannot visually see residue on the surface, it's a good idea to do a quick cleaning with our solvent. You don't want to discover that hard-to-see residue was still left behind after you see the adverse effects it has on primed and painted surfaces.
