3M™ Dyneon™ PTFE TF 5070GZ is primarily a resin component in metal coating formulations. This PTFE provides good chemical stability and chemical resistance. The food contact of the sintered coating listed under 21 CFR 177.1550 (FDA) and German Federal Ministry of Health (BGA). Dyneon PTFE TF 5070GZ also has good transparency that provides an excellent finish.
Fluorine Makes the Difference
Quite simply, fluorine makes the difference. Like many of our PTFE products, the presence of fluorine gives Dyneon PTFE TF 5070GZ its broad chemical resistance and temperature stability – as well as weathering and UV stability. Fluorine imparts special properties to fluoropolymers that make the difference for the polymer and the application. The dispersion is mixed with fillers and pigments for use in coating formulations.
Advancing the Science of Coatings
Dyneon PTFE TF 5070GZ can be formulated with different materials to make metal coatings with better substrate bonding. When formulating with this product, users may enjoy a PTFE that adheres well and offers a better finish with excellent optical properties. Dyneon recommends adding small amounts of fluorothermoplastic polymers such as 3M™ Dyneon™ Fluoroplastic PFA 6900GZ, PFA 6910GZ or FEP 6300GZ. For coating metal surfaces, various techniques such as spray coating, roller coating and silk-screen coating can be employed. The formulations can be adjusted accordingly for each technique.
When formulating with Dyneon PTFE TF 5070GZ, users will enjoy a surface that has low surface energy to create a non-stick surface with very good film formation and low porosity for excellent wetting performance. The chemical and temperature resistance increases the durability and range of uses, while providing corrosion protection. The sintered coating is cleared for food contact under US FDA 21 CFR 177.1550. It is also approved by the German Federal Ministry of Health (BGA).
