3M™ Trizact™ Cloth Belt 310EA is a microreplicated aluminum oxide cloth belt optimized for dry polishing on carbon steel, aluminum and brass for plating and polishing. This belt breaks in quickly and runs smoothly. A resin bond adheres the grain to a very flexible J-weight rayon cloth backing.
Optimized for Low Pressure, Off-Hand Polishing
Engineered for optimal performance in low-pressure, offhand polishing operations 3M™ Trizact™ Cloth Belt 310EA requires little or no break-in. The uniformity of its shaped grains avoid the "wild scratches" that result from conventional abrasives and make rework necessary or result in scrap. Multiple layers of abrasive mineral in Trizact products keep this belt running sharp and lasting longer than conventional coated abrasives.
Because the abrasive mineral stays consistently sharp, this belt runs smoothly without "grabbing" the part. The belt uses a Film Media Splice, a strong secure bond joining the belt ends, consisting of a thin film-joining media that minimizes "chatter marks," ensures a smooth running belt, and consistent finishing results.

Remove surface defects and imperfections
- Choose 302D for flexibility on tight contours
- Choose 332D for flexibility with greater durability
Step 2 Final Finish and Polishing
Polish with 3M™ Trizact™ Polishing Belt 310EA to remove any remaining defects and prepare the surface for plating.
Delivers Consistently Pristine Finish
Increasingly complex parts, harder materials, closer tolerances and faster turnarounds — to achieve precise surface parameters, the size, shape and surface of the grain in the abrasive is paramount. Consistent abrasive mineral size is key for optimum material removal rates and constant uniform contact for a fine finish.
Irregular size and shape will render "wild scratches." The uniform configuration and precisely engineered mineral structure of Trizact™ microreplicated abrasives delivers exceptional cut rate and precision finishes consistently and predictably.
Microreplication allows 3M to design abrasives with varying shapes and formulations, to control the level of breakdown, cut, finish and life
Microreplication — the Science of Smooth
3M scientists discovered a way to create tiny, precisely shaped abrasive structures and arrange them with precision on an abrasive backing. Microreplication allows 3M to design abrasives with varying shapes and formulations, to control the level of breakdown, cut, finish and life.
Each pyramid-shaped abrasive grain is identical in height, ensuring a limited penetration of the abrasive grains in the workpiece and eliminating the danger of uneven edges or deep scratches. As the abrasive wears, fresh mineral is continually exposed ensuring consistent, even cut, ideal for achieving a pristine finish on delicate or intricate components.
Altogether, this means fewer scraps and discards as a consequence of inconsistent results. Ongoing sharp cutting action minimizes the need to incorporate other abrasives in the sequence, thereby reducing processing steps and enhancing productivity.
3M Science. Improving the World Around You.
In addition to high-performance abrasives, 3M microreplication technology is also used in the manufacture of a variety of 3M products such as overhead projector lenses, reflective traffic signs and solar optical films.
