3M™ Novec™ 612 fluid is an ideal replacement for sulfur hexafluoride (SF6), widely used as a “cover gas” to prevent molten magnesium from burning during casting processes.
Additional Information 3M™ Novec™ 612 fluid has been demonstrated to provide excellent protection for molten magnesium at operating costs comparable to SF6. When used to replace SF6 in casting applications, greenhouse gas emissions can be reduced by more than 99%.
