Kidde Introduces New High Pressure System using 3M™ Novec™ 1230 Fire Protection Fluid
Kidde Fire Systems launched its new clean agent fire suppression platform, the Kidde® Clean Agent Advanced Delivery System (ADS) (PDF, 2.26 MB) using 3M™ Novec™ 1230 Fire Protection Fluid. According to the release (PDF, 46.92 KB), the newest system boasts "the best coverage, highest nozzle, smallest diameter pipe and longest pipe runs." It also offers increased agent flow rates and improved agent vaporization for better coverage, while leveraging the performance and sustainability of Novec 1230 fluid. The new system provides more flexibility for cylinder storage in, or at long distances from, the protected areas. It may also help reduce costs by using smaller diameter piping and directional valves to optimize piping networks from a single bank of cylinders.
Kidde® Clean Agent ADS using Novec 1230 fluid provides yet another sustainable choice for end-users of clean agent fire suppression. For owners of halon systems, the new system using Novec 1230 fluid provides an excellent retrofit option – a great benefit because many of these owners wish to replace halon with a sustainable agent.
The industry transition to sustainable alternatives such as Novec 1230 fluid reduces the climate impact of the industry by more than 99%. Systems using Novec 1230 fluid qualify for the 3M™ Blue Sky℠ Warranty – offering 20-year protection against regulatory bans or restrictions on the clean agent.
Kidde Fire Systems, a world leader in the development of fire detection and suppression systems, is a part of UTC Building & Industrial Systems, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX). The Kidde ADS system using Novec 1230 fluid is cULus listed and FM and U.S. Coast Guard approved, and is available and shipping for land- and marine-use applications. Various other U.S., marine and international approvals are in process.
