How long do I keep Prevena Therapy on my incision?
Wear the system for as long as your doctor has ordered. The therapy unit will turn off automatically at 7 or 14 days.

Will my incision dressing need to be changed?
For the 14 day unit, a dressing change is required after 7 days, otherwise, the dressing is not typically changed. Follow your doctor's instructions.

How do I wear my Prevena Therapy Unit?
This portable unit should always be kept turned on for the time your doctor has instructed. The unit can be worn under or over your clothing and includes a carrying case with adjustable straps, so you can use it multiple ways.

Where should I keep my Prevena Therapy Unit?
Keep your therapy unit in a safe place where tubing will not become kinked or pinched, and it cannot be pulled off a table or dropped onto the floor.

Do I need batteries for my Prevena Therapy Unit?
This therapy unit has a rechargeable battery and comes with a charger. Bring your charger with you if your are gone for extended periods of time. For convenience, consider charging your therapy unit battery while you are sleeping.

Can I shower with Prevena Therapy?
If your doctor agrees, light showering is usually fine. However, do not take a bath with the system.
- Before showering, turn off the therapy unit by holding down the On/Off button for three seconds. Once therapy stops, disconnect the unit from the dressing and store it in a safe place away from any water
- A little water or shower soap won't affect the dressing. It's okay to rinse lightly
- When towel drying, don't disturb or damage the dressing

3M™ Prevena™ 125 and 3M™ Prevena™ Plus 125 Therapy Units manage the environment of closed surgical incisions and remove fluid away from the surgical incision via the application of -125mmHg continuous negative pressure. When used with legally marketed compatible dressings, Prevena 125 and Prevena Plus 125 Therapy Units are intended to aid in reducing the incidence of seroma and, in patients at risk for post-operative infections, aid in reducing the incidence of superficial surgical site infection in Class I and II wounds.
The effectiveness of Prevena Therapy in reducing the incidence of SSIs and seroma in all surgical procedures and populations has not been demonstrated. See full indications for use and limitations at myKCI.com.
NOTE: Applicable therapy units include Prevena™ 125 and Prevena™ Plus 125 Therapy Unit 7 Day.
The indication statement does not apply to the Prevena Plus 125 Therapy Unit (14-day) that comes with the 3M™ Prevena Restor™ System Kits (see Prevena Restor indications for use).
The 3M™ Prevena Restor™ Incision Management System is intended to manage the environment of surgical incisions that continue to drain following sutured or stapled closure by maintaining a closed environment and removing exudate via the application of negative pressure wound therapy.
