Tara White is the director of infection prevention and control for Nemours, A.I. duPont Hospital for Children, a large urban campus outside of Wilmington, DE. Ms. White has a diverse background in healthcare and has held positions as a clinical nurse in critical care, emergency medicine, infection prevention and also has provided consulting services for both emergency management and to long term care facilities. Tara seeks out challenges in healthcare that seem impossible to others. Her diverse background allows her to approach difficult situations and drive success through inter-professional collaborations and fresh new initiatives. She lecturers frequently in the ivy league academic setting and has presented throughout the United States on a variety of infection prevention and control topics. In addition to Tara’s masters degree in nursing, she holds dual certifications as a certified infection prevention and control nurse (CIC) and also as a clinical nurse leader (CNL).
Before getting in to the healthcare field, Tara earned her first bachelors degree in studio art. She lived in Florence, Italy for 2 years where she studied fine art with a focus on painting. Her first job out of college was for Adidas footwear where she worked in the international footwear design division. She played volleyball for most of her athletic career, but now in her free time you will most likely find her in the backcountry snowboarding or on the beaches of New Jersey surfing.
