Prepare for the future of value-based care

The 3M™ Advanced CDI Transformation Program uses 3M's proven clinical documentation integrity (CDI) technology to address all care settings, all lengths of stay and all payers, while engaging physicians to ensure program success. This is accomplished by providing physicians with the education and easy-to-use technology they need to resolve documentation issues regardless of the care setting, reimbursement model, or payer.

Let’s talk about how we can help you with CDI.

  • Do you need better ways to get your physicians engaged with CDI?

3M has practicing physicians on staff to provide peer-to-peer, physician-to-physician CDI training. These physician consultants can be crucial in engaging your physician teams in CDI initiatives. Once physicians see the quality and financial impacts of how they capture patient encounters, those who initially resisted change often become the strongest CDI advocates.

  • To sustain performance, you need consistent visibility into KPIs and regular staff education. Consistent data monitoring and coaching help you identify high impact opportunities and reinforce best practices. Ongoing reporting can include both executive and physician dashboards to monitor the impact of your CDI program and measure physician performance by national norms, specialty and practice groups. 3M uses the proprietary 3M™ All Patient Refined DRG (APR DRG) methodology to measure quality outcomes for severity of illness (SOI) and risk of mortality (ROM)—the same approach used by state and federal agencies for public reporting.
  • Quality experts from 3M can help clients identify the root cause of a quality issue by determining the accuracy of the documentation first—viewing quality from a documentation perspective to create a long-term solution that can help deliver improved quality measures and outcomes.

  • Outpatient CDI brings its own unique challenges: multiple systems to integrate and diverse care settings, such as emergency departments, hospital-based outpatient care, same day surgeries and physician clinics. 3M also offers consulting services that analyze how your organization is managing the hierarchical condition categories (HCCs). Our expert consultants can help you adjust for risk, capture complete and accurate documentation, focus on high impact cases and accurately measure your ongoing success.
