3M™ M*Modal Fluency Direct allows for direct dictation into your eClinicalWorks system. All variety of dialects, individual speaking styles and medical specialties and subspecialty vocabularies are supported, as are the use of customized templates, macros and a robust library of voice commands. With 3M Fluency Direct, physicians can document directly in eClinicalWorks free text fields, templates and progress notes.

3M Fluency Direct is integrated with eClinicalMobile and eClinicalTouch applications allowing for additional portability options. An integral part of 3M Fluency Direct is a single, cloud-hosted user speech profile that can be used from any eClinicalWorks enabled workstation for rapid adoption, greater productivity and improved physician satisfaction. This allows physicians to dictate from multiple locations as they move between exam rooms, office and home without the need to sign off from individual workstations. Also, no additional training of the speech profile is required from physicians and they benefit from a consistent and superior experience.

To deliver an exemplary physician documentation experience with out-of-the-gate accuracy and without prior training, 3M uses a patented approach of combining speech recognition technology with natural language understanding (NLU).
