An important ingredient for innovation is collaboration – especially during a crisis. As we continue our global pandemic response, healthcare organizations are working together to leverage the lessons we’ve learned so far and look ahead to the role the industry must play when the next public health crisis emerges.
Recently, 3M Health Care Group President Mojdeh Poul, along with other healthcare leaders, shared the lessons learned and outlined actions that can be developed to ensure strengthened post-pandemic healthcare.
“The global COVID-19 pandemic has tested the healthcare sector's ability to adapt to crisis,” she says. “The experience has revealed remarkable resiliency and high achievement within our industry. It also highlighted several opportunities for needed change. Our learnings can shape post-pandemic reforms that help us effectively respond when the next public health crisis emerges.”
The peer-reviewed paper, co-authored by leaders from Johnson & Johnson, Novartis, Medtronic, Exact Sciences, Labcorp and 3M, was published by the National Academy of Medicine (NAM). In it, the authors identify challenges encountered in combating the pandemic, and outline what opportunities exist to reinforce, revitalize, and transform the healthcare system.
