In the healthcare environment, what you can’t see does matter
As a healthcare professional, your first priority is the health of your patients—and 3M scientists are helping out, from advanced drug delivery systems to hand hygiene products and sterilization monitoring tools. One 3M solution takes advantage of the science of light, helping you ensure that patient rooms, public spaces, instruments, and even endoscopes are as clean as possible, including removing microscopic contaminants invisible to the naked eye.
The 3M™ Clean-Trace™ ATP Monitoring System is a set of products and tools that use optical science and bioluminescence to detect, identify, and record the presence of organic matter on a surface. You can collect and analyze real-time, quantitative data to improve cleaning effectiveness in your facility.
Follow the sampling instructions for our rapid indicator tests, then activate and insert the test into the 3M™ Clean-Trace™ Luminometer. Each of our tests contains a liquid stable enzyme that reacts with adenosine triphosphate, or ATP, an organic compound that is present in all living things. This chemical reaction (the same reaction that occurs in fireflies) emits light which the luminometer then detects and quantifies, providing a reading to indicate how much clinical soil is present. It’s basically a diagnostic on cleanliness.
When you're certain your environment and instruments are clean, you can focus on what’s most essential: restoring your patients’ health.
