3M partnered with The Nature Conservancy in 2014 to empower local communities in Berau, Indonesia, to protect and manage their rainforest. 3M’s $500,000 investment is providing training on land use planning and natural resource management to help locals develop green livelihoods.
Environmental organizations can turn parks and playgrounds into science labs with a 3M Eco Grant. These grants are awarded to organizations that help students connect science, technology, engineering and math to the world around them. Each year, 3M invests a total of $400,000 to local environmental organizations for projects aimed at improving science-based environmental and conservation education for youth. Recipients are environmental organizations in communities near a 3M facility.
