3M Foundation forms lasting partnerships with communities worldwide and provides resources to help them succeed and grow—ensuring a more interconnected and thriving world.
More than 7,000 registered runners pounded the pavement as we celebrated the 25th year of the 3M Half Marathon in Austin, Texas, in January 2019. Outside magazine listed it as one of "The Best Races for Running Your Fastest Time" and over the years, the marathon has grown into a well-organized race in the U.S. Around 100 3Mers were involved as either runners or volunteers. The 3M Consumer Business Group donated products for the coveted runner’s swag bag. Over its 25-year history, the 3M Half Marathon has provided hundreds of thousands of dollars in grants from 3M Foundation to local Austin nonprofits to advance STEM education. The 2019 beneficiary of a $60,000 grant was Austin Youth River Watch, a program that provides peer mentoring and environmental education to high-school students from underserved communities.
Through a partnership with SOS Children Villages of Spain, 3M helped provide more than 500 students with healthy meals.
