3M Lead Research Specialist Steve Stein is preparing to give a presentation at Respiratory Drug Delivery Europe 2017. The conference focuses on the developing issues surrounding aerosol drug delivery. It will be held April 25-28 in Nice, France. Here’s a preview:
Q: Please briefly explain what the Respiratory Drug Delivery conference is.
Stein: This conference is one of the most influential meetings for those involved in the development of respiratory delivery devices. The conference consists of leading academics, representatives from almost all companies involved in development of respiratory delivery devices, and key regulatory decision makers that influence the regulation of these devices. There will be global representation at this conference.
Q: What will you be unveiling/educating people about while you're there?
Stein: 3M will be giving an interactive workshop entitled “The New Future: Introducing the Next Generation pMDI”. This interactive and hands-on workshop will give an opportunity for participants to understand some of the underlying technology advancements and a growing emphasis on digital capabilities required when developing the next generation of MDI devices, using the example of the 3M™ Intelligent Control Inhaler, the inclusion of inspiration control and other critical aspects. The workshop will also cover an approach to developing new MDIs containing generic drug substance(s) in terms of the scientific, technical and regulatory requirements.
Q: What are you hoping to learn while you're there?
Stein: We hope to keep our finger on the pulse of the respiratory drug delivery market and maintain awareness of current trends in global development and regulation of these products. We also view these conferences as important to identify potential opportunities to partner with companies that could benefit from our expertise in the development of respiratory delivery products.
