  • Technical expertise and support

For more than 50 years, 3M has developed and manufactured high-quality PTFE products to help a wide variety of industries meet new challenges. Our experienced application engineers have technical service down to a science, and they will put their extensive material expertise in fluoropolymers to work for you.

While 3M does not offer part design services, we will help bring your part to life. You don’t need to be an expert in additive manufacturing – that’s what we’re here for. We will create the support structures required for successful part fabrication and will help optimize your designs for 3D printing.

  • Materials and process

3M’s unique 3D printing technology utilizes open-sourced SLA printers and a proprietary material formulation. The end result is a custom manufactured part with properties and performance comparable to traditionally processed and CNC machined PTFE.

3M is not licensing this patent-pending technology for third party production at this time. We also do not currently offer either 3D printer equipment or this PTFE material formulation for sale. The best way we can ensure that final parts meet your specifications is to perform strictly controlled processing procedures in-house – giving you a final part that is ready to use.

For more information, read about our technology and capabilities, PTFE materials, and final part physical properties.

  • Looking ahead: what's next?

We are exploring the potential for 3D printing PTFE compounds and other fluoropolymer materials in the future.

    Current restrictions
3M does not currently offer the production of parts controlled by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Please contact us for additional information if this is required for your application.
